Old headstone portrait

This marble headstone came from a monument manufacturer in Alabama. I was assured it was unused and not some grave robber's booty.

  1. Fantastic! I just visited the old ghost town of Bodie, CA a few weeks back and took some shots of some nice marble headstones and old wooden ones too. The old wooden ones get so deteriorated that they eventually splinter apart and I guess are destroyed. I guess that's the way it should be though...

  3. Very nice! Makes me want to know more about the artisans who carved these. Immigrant Europeans? Artists applying their talents commercially?

  4. I wish I knew the maker. But it wouldn't surprise me if the artisan were an Italian immigrant. It kind of has that Old World look.
