Simply sophisticated

In person this stylized figure initially looks like pottery, but a closer look reveals it's carved wood. It comes from North Carolina but seems African influenced. The pose, the absence of carved details and the choice of one color only, a creamy green yellow, all add up to a striking work of art.

  1. An interesting thing. Enamel paint? How old do you suspect, and do you think the paint was added later than the making? How tall? Thanks, Jim

  2. Hi, Jim. It's glossy, looks like enamel. There appears to be a radiator silver undercoat. Looks like a 50s, 60s color to me, so I believe that's how old it is. 10.6 inches tall.
