Always looking to be surprised by idiosyncratic, accidental, impromptu, mysterious and raw imagery found in art, architecture, antiques and photographs
A French postcard c. 1919 with the odd juxtaposition of a serene girl holding a hoop and stick and a painted backdrop showing a fiery air war. I'm guessing this studio setup was dad's idea.
I am going to guess this backdrop was mostly used during the first world war to show unfortunate cannon fodder on the way to the front. Every family wanted a picture of son in his uniform...but for many, it was to be the last photo. Jim Linderman Dull Tool Dim Bulb
