Man doll

Leroy Almon (d. 1997) of Tallapoosa, Ga., made this plaque early in his career before his subject matter turned exclusively to Christianity. Almon apprenticed with the famous lay minister artist Elijah Pierce of Columbus, Ohio, where Almon lived before moving to the South. Carved in the top right corner is the title: "The Man Doll." Wonder what inspired him to depict such an unusual figure. Surprisingly, Almon is not in Wikipedia, but I did find this video.
