Burgess Dulaney abstract vessel

Burgess Dulaney (d. 2001) lived near Fulton, Miss., his entire life. He became well known because of his unfired mud figures. Dulaney's work was included in the book "Baking in the Sun: Visionary Images from the South" (1987) and catalogued by Austin, Texas collector Terry Nowell. Fans of Dulaney's creations say they are reminiscent of pre-Columbian pottery, a field Dulaney was unfamiliar with as he was uneducated. This vessel is less typical of Dulaney's work. Its form is a mystery.
